Neighborhood

The Ultimate Mountain Sanctuary Bald Eagle Retreat is located in a stunningly peaceful and scenic pocket of Snyder County. We aren’t just near nature; we are part of it. The property is a private 100+ acre "island" of forest and ponds that connects directly to the 196,000-acre Bald Eagle State Forest. You won't see neighbors or hear city noise—just the sounds of the wind through the pines and the wildlife near the ponds. Local Highlights & Proximity: Bald Eagle State Forest: Your "backyard" for the weekend. Miles of world-class hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails are accessible directly from our private gated access. Penn State University / State College: We are a scenic 50 - 55 minute drive from Beaver Stadium, making this the perfect home base for large alumni groups, graduation celebrations, and Nittany Lion fans who want a private retreat away from the downtown crowds. Outdoor Recreation: Beyond our private ponds, the surrounding valley is famous for its trout fishing, hunting, and pristine mountain air. The "Outback" Feel: While the estate is incredibly secluded, the local mountain roads are a cyclist’s dream, and the nearby small-town atmosphere of Milroy and the surrounding areas offers a glimpse into true Pennsylvania mountain life. Getting Around: Because of our remote, high-mountain location, a vehicle is essential. We feature a large, paved driveway and ample parking area to accommodate 15–20+ vehicles with ease. During winter months (December–March), we recommend 4WD or AWD to navigate the mountain roads comfortably.

Had an amazing stay! This is our third year bringing our students here for a retreat and it never disappoints! We had no concerns and Raymond is a great host!

Raymond's retreat was an amazing place for my friends and family to find some solitude in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Truly a special place that we are so grateful to have stayed at. There is more than enough space and has something for everyone. Anything from fishing, hiking, kayaking, cooking in the industrial kitchen, ping pong, pickleball, or just enjoying the scenery. I would highly recommend staying there. Raymond was always quick to respond to make adjustments leading up to our stay.

The property is amazing, looks like the pictures stunning views and the house was clean and cozy, the weather was not on my side it rained a lot during my stay but there was a lot of toys for the kids and an outdoor play room with a pool and ping pong table. My favorite thing about this property is that you can sit and relax on the deck and have a birds-eye view of the whole property you can keep an eye on the kids without having to run around. I will definitely try to come back when the weather is warmer. Thank you Raymond for hosting us.

Vehicle Essentials Due to our secluded mountain location, a private vehicle is required to reach the estate and explore the surrounding area. There is no public transit or rideshare (Uber/Lyft) service available in this remote part of the forest. Parking for Large Groups One of the unique advantages of Bald Eagle Retreat is our ability to accommodate large caravans. Paved Access: The property features a well-maintained, paved driveway suitable for large passenger vans, SUVs, and standard vehicles. Ample Space: We provide a dedicated, expansive parking area that can comfortably hold 15–20+ vehicles, ensuring your entire group of 60 can park safely and conveniently on-site. Terrain & Seasonal Travel The Scenic Route: Enjoy a beautiful drive through the valley and mountains to reach us. The roads are paved, but expect winding mountain turns. Winter Travel: From December through March, we highly recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles. While the driveway and local roads are maintained, mountain weather can be unpredictable, and all-wheel drive ensures your group can navigate the terrain with confidence. Proximity to Key Hubs State College / Penn State: A scenic 50-55 minute drive. Local Supplies: We recommend stopping for groceries and supplies in Milroy or the surrounding towns before heading up the mountain, as the nearest large supermarket is approximately 20–25 minutes away.
